your wardrobe questions, answered - Auckland’s storage experts

Do you offer a free measure and quote?

Yes! We provide a completely free on-site measure and quote across all of Auckland. One of our experienced team members will visit your home, assess your space, and prepare a detailed quote at no cost and with no obligation. Call us on 0800 800 833 or get in touch online to book yours.

How much does a custom wardrobe cost in Auckland?

Costs vary depending on the wardrobe type, size, materials, and features you choose. As a rough guide:

  • Reach-in / built-in wardrobes — typically from $500–$2,000 installed
  • Walk-in wardrobes — typically from $4,000–$10,000+ depending on size and finishes
  • Flatpack wardrobes — a cost-effective option made to your specifications
  • Free-standing wardrobes — starting from around $1,500

Because we manufacture directly, our pricing cuts out the middleman. Contact us for a free, tailored quote — prices vary based on your exact space.

Do you charge for the design consultation?

No — our design consultation, on-site measure, and quote are completely free. We use a 3D design process to show you exactly what your wardrobe will look like before any commitment is made. There's no pressure and no obligation to proceed.

Are there colour upgrade costs?

We offer a wide range of melamine colours and woodgrain finishes. Colour upgrades from standard white may incur additional costs depending on the finish selected. Our team will outline any colour-related pricing clearly in your quote. You're welcome to visit our showroom in East Tamaki to view the full colour range in person.

How does the wardrobe design process work?

Our process is straightforward:
1. Get in touch — Call 0800 800 833 or enquire online
2. Free measure & quote — We visit your home and assess your space
3. 3D Design — We create a 3D plan so you can visualise the result
4. Manufacturing — Your wardrobe is made to order at our Auckland base
5. Installation — Our team delivers and installs, usually in a single day

Do I need to provide measurements myself?

No — our team comes to you for a free on-site measure. This ensures your wardrobe is designed and built to fit your exact space perfectly. If you'd like to get a rough idea of sizing or costs before we visit, feel free to take some basic measurements (width, height, and depth of the space) and call us for a preliminary chat.

Can I work with Wardrobe Warehouse during a new build or renovation?

Absolutely — we love working with new builds and renovations. We're an approved supplier to a number of Auckland's leading builders, including Sentinel Homes, GJ Gardner Homes, Precision Homes, Evolution Builders, and Byrne Homes. We recommend getting in touch early in the build process so we can design your wardrobes around your plans and timeframes.

Are your wardrobes custom-made or off-the-shelf?

Every wardrobe we produce is custom-designed and made to fit your exact space. We don't sell generic, off-the-shelf systems. Our team designs each wardrobe to your specific dimensions, storage needs, lifestyle, and style preferences — so it looks and functions exactly as you need.

What types of wardrobes do you offer?

We offer a comprehensive range of wardrobe solutions:

  • Walk-in wardrobes — luxury, spacious designs for dressing rooms
  • Reach-in wardrobes — built to fit your available space
  • Flatpack wardrobes — made to your specifications, cost-effective
  • Free-standing wardrobes — no built-in cavity required
  • Linen cupboards — organised linen and household storage
  • Garage storage — shelving and storage for your garage
  • Soho Sliding Doors — our range of custom sliding wardrobe doors

What materials are your wardrobes made from?

Our wardrobes are manufactured from 18mm and 25mm Melamine board — a sustainably sourced, NZ-made MDF substrate laminated with durable quality melamine sheets. We use Hettich soft-close drawer systems, chrome steel hanger rails, and PVC-edged visible edges for a clean, finished result. A wide range of colour and woodgrain finish options is available.

Can I add accessories like drawers, shoe shelves, or lighting?

Yes — your wardrobe can be customised with a full range of accessories including soft-close drawers, shoe shelves, pull-out pants racks, belt and tie holders, laundry hampers, and base kickboards. Ask our team about the available options during your design consultation.

Do you supply and install sliding wardrobe doors?

Yes. Our Soho Sliding Door range offers stylish, high-quality sliding wardrobe doors. We can install them as part of a new wardrobe system, or add sliding doors to an existing wardrobe opening. Visit our showroom to see the options available, or explore our Soho Sliding Doors range.

How long does wardrobe installation take?

Most wardrobe installations are completed within a single day. The exact time depends on the size and complexity of your wardrobe. Our installation team works efficiently and tidily, and will leave your space clean and ready to use.

How long does it take from order to installation?

Lead times depend on the product type, colour choice, and time of year. As a general guide, standard white wardrobes are typically ready within 2–4 weeks from the date of order and deposit. Custom colour systems generally take 4–6 weeks. We'll give you a clear estimated timeline at the time of your quote.

Do you remove or dispose of my old wardrobe?

Our standard installation service does not include the removal or disposal of existing shelving, doors, or fittings. We recommend arranging this prior to installation day. If you need assistance with this, please discuss it with our team at the time of your consultation and we can advise on options.

What do I need to do to prepare for installation day?

To ensure a smooth installation day, please make sure the wardrobe area is cleared — any existing clothing, shelving, or fixtures removed, and the space is accessible for our team. Ideally, wardrobes are installed after walls are painted and carpet or flooring is laid. Our team will take care of everything else.

Do your wardrobes come with a warranty?

Yes. We stand behind the quality of everything we manufacture and install. Our wardrobes are built to last many years with normal use. Full warranty details are available from our team at the time of your quote. We've been manufacturing and installing wardrobes across Auckland since 1997 — our track record speaks for itself.

What areas of Auckland do you cover?

We service all of Auckland — from Pokeno in the south to Omaha in the north. This includes the North Shore, West Auckland, Central Auckland, East Auckland, Manukau, Papakura, and all suburbs in between. Our showroom and manufacturing base is located in East Tamaki, Auckland.

Can I visit your showroom to see your wardrobes?

Yes! We'd love to see you. Our showroom is located at 83F Springs Road, East Tamaki, Auckland 2013. You can see our wardrobe systems and sliding door options in person, discuss your requirements with our friendly team, and get a feel for the quality and finish of our products. No appointment necessary — or call ahead on 0800 800 833 and we'll make sure someone is available to assist you.

How long has Wardrobe Warehouse been in business?

We've been manufacturing and installing wardrobes across the Auckland region since 1997 — over 25 years of experience. We're a family-owned and operated business, and we take great pride in the quality and service we deliver to every customer. Our 4.8-star Google rating reflects the trust Auckland homeowners place in us.
